Reconsidering

The main programme changes are illustrated as a comparison between the initial building design (on the left) and its new concept (on the right). The underground link between Essoldo Cinema and Stretford Public Hall is visible on the diagram and highlights the different storey levels of the proposal. Outdoor spaces are added to the edifice's new layout including outdoor cinema and cafe, as well as a public square which works as a gathering space in front of the main entrance.

After having in mind how the interior spaces should look like and looking into precedents of common facilities, sketching became an useful tool for the further steps of the plan. A quick drawing experiment helped me to visualize roughly my ideas and arrangement.

Little bit of scale

Hand drawings of the three storeys ( drawn in scale 1:200 and placed above a collage "Iteration 4") illustrate a proposed arrangement of the interior space. The underground floor has a direct route to the Public Hall and in doing so - it preserves the social core of Stretford with its most prominent buildings. The main circulation structure, consisting of staircase and lift, connects  the main parts of the edifice - Essoldo Cinema and its new extension.

Improved floor plans illustrate visually the arrangement of inner spaces and the movement between them.  The underground storey's form is change in order to position the restrooms at the same area as on the upper levels and create a core.  Main stair's design on the central circulation point  has a new inviting look as it is positioned just across the entrance
